Progress in Stages

As one might imagine, Gone Shopping has required quite a lot of work, between doing the research, drawing the scene artwork and creating the site. All of which is being done by an extensive team of precisely one person.

That being so, rather than try to cover all available history in one go, I've chosen to deal with it in phases.

This is the progress so far:

Stage 1

Broad Street - 21st century, Q1 (2001-2025) - Part I

This initial proof of concept featured 47 scenes and covered a quarter century to test that the Gone Shopping project is possible. Which it clearly is.

Completed 28 May 2026.

Stage 2

Broad Street - 21st century, Q1 (2001-2025) - Part II

An additional 37 intermediate scenes were added to better show the shops and buildings in the context of their neighbours.

Completed 22 Jun 2026.

Stage 3

Broad Street - 20th century, Q4 (1976-2000)

As of 24 Jul 2026, artwork has been drawn for the north side, with the south side still to be done. Data for both sides has been researched and prepared.

Stage 4

Broad Street - 21st century, Q2, Year 1 (2026)

As of 12 Jul 2026, Gone Shopping has been updated to account for changes in 2026 so far. Further updates may or may not occur on an ongoing basis before a more thorough annual update in Nov or Dec.
