No. 86
Quiksilver Boardriders Club (surf apparel retailer)

Quiksilver is a surf apparel brand founded in 1969 in Torquay, Australia by Alan Green. It became one of the largest manufacturers of such apparel and moved its HQ to California in 1999. It went bankrupt in 2015 and was restructured. As of 2026, it is owned by the New York-based Authentic Brands Group.

No. 85
First Sport (sports retailer)

First Sport was a sportswear chain founded in 1982 as West 8 Sports. It was acquired by Blacks Leisure Group which in 1991 merged its other sports subsidiaries into it to form First Sport. Blacks sold it to JD Sports in 2002, which absorbed it, erasing the brand.

2002 - First Sport was sold by Blacks Leisure Group to JD Sports. As JD Sports already had a shop of its own in Broad Street (at No. 52), this immediately placed the continuation of this branch in jeopardy.
